Top Free Things to do in Wexford

There is so much to see and do in Wexford with many attractions free to enter and explore. Here are a few of our favourites from around the sunny southeast.

Curracloe Beach

Did you know that Wexford has over 250km of stunning coastline and the most hours of sunshine than any other county in Ireland? Explore Wexford’s stunning blue flag beaches during your next visit. Curracloe is definitely one of our favourites and is a must-see for family fun, romantic walks or just simply enjoying the Wexford sunshine. Maldron Hotel Wexford is located 15km from Curracloe Beach.

Raven Point Wood Walking Trail

The Raven Point Wood walking trail takes you through the beautiful sand dunes formed in the 1600s, the stunning forestry and is located just behind Curracloe beach. The trail is an easy walk for all the family to enjoy and in total is roughly 6.5km, mostly flat through the forest with views of the North Slobs Wildlife sanctuary and Raven Point itself. Maldron Hotel Wexford is located 15km from Raven Wood.

Ferrycarrig Castle

Roches Tower House was built in the 1400s to protect boats from attacks by rebels. The tower’s interior is not open to the public however there is car parking and picnic facilities overlooking the river Slaney. You can climb up the steps of the castle which has stunning views of the river however it is very steep and extreme caution is needed. Maldron Hotel Wexford is located less than 2km from Ferrycarrig Castle.

Eden Vale

Eden Vale is most definitely worth a visit when staying in Wexford. A stunning forest area with a 2.5km walking trail. The trail runs along the River Sow with valleys and a most impressive waterfall. Eden Vale is often unknown to tourists but is extremely popular with locals and dog walkers. Maldron Hotel Wexford is located 9km from Eden Vale.

Min Ryan Park

This family friendly amenity opened in June 2020 and is the perfect location to spend an afternoon with the family. The park includes a large playground, dog park, walking trail and a picnic area. There is a beautiful memorial garden and wildflower meadows as well as restrooms and baby changing facilities. Maldron Hotel Wexford is located 3km from Min Ryan Park.

Ring of Hook Drive

Hook Peninsula is one of the most popular attractions for those visiting Wexford. It has amazing scenery on one side and the Irish Sea on the other. This drive will take you through narrow and winding country roads with pretty villages along the way with some interesting history behind them. The drive takes in some of the counties most popular tourist attractions such as Hook Lighthouse, Duncannon Fort, Ballyhack Castle and Tintern Abbey (additional charges apply for entry to these locations). The drive itself takes just over one hour from start to finish but we suggest taking a day to explore all the beautiful stops along the way.
